Air Source Heat Pumps can extract heat from external air, concentrate the heat and transfer it into a building to provide space heating.

The performance is less good than a Ground Source Heat Pump in cold weather, but an ASHP can perform well in mild conditions.

An Air Source Heat Pump can also be reversed to extract heat from a building in summer and expel it to the exterior to provide cooling.
