Heat pump installations across Europe

The UK has the lowest heat pump installation rate in Europe.

While the UK government has announced a target of seeing 600,000 heat pumps a year installed by 2028
it continues to impose higher taxes on electricity than on burning gas for heating.

Most countries in Europe impose much higher taxes on burning gas than the UK does.
Many countries in Europe have banned the installation of gas boilers in new buildings.

France installs ten times as many heat pumps each year as the UK does.
